The qingbai glaze of early Jingdezhen wares is transparent. When applied over a white porcelain body the glaze produces a greenish-blue color. Jingdezhen is named after the Emperor Jingde (1004-1007) as he first established the kilns that continue to operate today. The kilns success is due to geographical fortune next to rivers and access to pure deposits of porcelain stone. Most importantly, the traditional is continued by the countries skilled craftsmen.
