Burl Plated Elmwood Office Chair $1080
Ming Dynasty Elmwood Southern Official’s Hat Armchair with High Arms. New reproduction based off a Ming Summer Palace imperial chair from the 18th century. Four chairs were housed in Beijing’s Summer Palace, aka Gardens of Nurtured Harmony. The palace overlooking Kunming lake is currently recognized as a masterpiece of hillside landscape garden design.
Instead of a jade plaque as originally equipped, we incorporated a solid burl plate flush with the backrest splat. The lower panel of the splat has curling tendrils facing inward. The accent chair offers upright seating, with ergonomic lumbar and high arm support, for discipline down to business – no slouching allowed! Gooseneck arm posts accentuate arched aprons on all four sides. Chair is equally at home in a tea room or tucked into an executive desk in the workspace environment. Leaner types apply, the seat is 22″ wide with the arms arching inward to the gooseneck posts, creating a 17″ width at the narrowest point. Optionally, we stock this chair in rosewood & burl and either can be dressed up with a custom fitted seat cushion.
Burl Plated Elmwood Office Chair, handmade in solid elmwood and burlwood. Dimensions: 23″ x 20″ x 37″H. Originally $1525, SALE $1080.
