Pair of vintage Straits Furniture Chairs including cushions. Chinese Qing dynasty design and wood joinery hand craftsmanship meets early 19th-century English European fashion. For example, elements of Queen Anne and Chippendale can be found in the design. Straits classical Chinese furniture were found in elite homes of Singapore, Penang, Malacca. Marble stone back inset, unique to each own. Flared legs and aprons, scrolled arms, handmade in solid walnut. You’ll find inspiration of this design from the scholar furniture in Suzhou’s famous gardens: Humble Administrator’s Garden, Garden of the Master of the Nets, Lion Forest Garden, etc. Retreat and reflect with this classical chairset. Included are new, fitted, cushions handmade from a pearlescent dragon motif silver silk, custom designed for the convex shape of the seat pan and velcro attach wrap onto the back support.
