Epitomizes the ideal traits of vintage country furniture: streaking grain, burned knots in the grain of the solid softwood Nanmu wood for rustic character, contrasting hardware for edge, large panels of solid wood and soft rounded crown top for simple, understated quality. Nanmu wood is resistant to changes in humidity and temperature, avoiding typical expansion or contraction because of changes in climate. In the Ming dynasty, Nanmu was used in architectural woodworking and boat-building due to its resistance to decay. Includes a pair of antique metal spoons (one pictured), valued alone at $75 each. Plate half moon pull handles on three upper wood-on-wood drawers. Lower pair of swining doors with 3rd bar plate to create a lockable doorset. Inside, expansive shelves (removable) divide the open storage space. Superb condition for a 1950s vintage.
