Ming Dynasty Antique Wine Table $850

Authentic antique (100 year lineage) hall table aka painting table aka wine table aka “jiuzhuo”, translated as table that serves wine. Handmade in solid jichimu aka “chicken wing wood” from the Island of Hainan: brown, grey, purple, black zig zag grain pattern resembling the feathers of a bird. The underside of the table that has remained un-restored shows the authentic age and long life this table has endured. Rectangular recessed-leg table used for serving food and drink since the Five Dynasties period and the Song Dynasty. Single floating panel top. Slightly splayed legs to create a balanced proportion. A handsome accent hall table, round legs, undecorated aprons, double stretchers along both sides. An example from the 17th century, sized 49 x 24 x 32, property of Estate of Edmund and Mariann Clubb sold for $15,000 in 1999.
