Handcrafted in red Southern Elmwood. The timber variety is rarer and both denser and more vivid in grain pattern. Snakeskin hue patterned rattan throughout, forming the base of the seat and balcony convex support back, wrapping the sides in pillow shaped, elmwood faced ends.

Double drawers with bronze pulls in the front support apron that span the depth of the base. Legs are finished in scroll finale.  Pagoda tiered support back features extensive cut through hand carving. Motifs include: pairs of guardian lion foo dogs amongst the clouds. Fan silhouettes and longevity Chinese characters form the intricate carvings in a subtle fashion. Relief carvings on the convex moldings and upwards to the bullhorn outward scroll top.
