Shanghai Bund Mirrored Vanity $1025

Handcrafted and carved in solid white wood, similar to pine, handrubbed finish in cherry, a red brown tint.  Eight drawers, three cabinet doors. Three beveled mirrors (slight fogging on right mirror from oxidation and age of piece) with an arched and ornately carved peaking crown. Excellent condition for this vintage. We date this piece at least three quarters of a century old. Claw on ball feet. Such a piece would also serve as a unique one-of-a-kind bath sink vanity, a project for the curious and creative.

The Shanghai Bund is famous for its Western styled 19th century historical buildings across from the Huangpu River, that once housed numerous major banks and trading houses from around the world including Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Russia and USA, in addition to a newspaper, the Shanghai Club. The combination of proximity to the river views and the closeness of each powerhouse led to the Bund’s role as an economic financial hub in East Asia.
